So, what’s next? Well, I have been working on a photography project, which is finally coming together after spending every spare hour I have outside of my 8-5 ‘pays the bills’ job.

Since the 9th of November 2009, I have been having the time of my life. Exploring India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and next, Laos. I have seen so many amazing places, and met the most wonderful, interesting and graceful people in the world. I’ve never seen so many happy people in my entire life.

(But I must say, the design isn’t much to write home about. Although at times it is very entertaining.)

I do often wonder what I’m missing in the design world whilst I’m away, but I think this experience more than justifies it!

I have a mountain of photographs I would like to create something with when I return home, or just simply exhibit.  So, watch this space.

Good times/Bad times/Love/Hate. Money conquers.

Well, at the moment I weld and bend steel/wire. First of all,no I haven’t given up on design before I’ve started, and it’s not because I’m rubbish, or can’t be bothered searching for jobs. Honest!

I am going to INDIA! Oh yes.

It’s quite easy to get all defensive and over justify why I’m not slaving away in at an agency for ‘nawt’ (zero pence). I do currently have moments of ‘oh my god, why am I spot welding a bread shelf for a well known supermarket!? I should be chasing the dream job’. But the main thing at the moment for me is to earn as much money as possible to fund my 6+ months in India. It has proved impossible to find a well paid job, in graphic design, for only 4 months work.

So, overall I’m a factory lass (AKA Petal Face/Darling/Sweetheart) who dreams about graphics at every given moment. Everything I do is perfectly aligned, neatly placed, and fits the grid. Oh, that just works too well.

Hopefully I will be able to continue designing bit’s&bobs through freelance projects. Although working 11 hours a day, plus Saturday keeps me pretty busy as you can imagine. Thank god for wireless internet and endless amounts of design blogs.

I best stop ranting now, you get the point!

I aim for ‘Wire Queen’. Factories require many fans. They are too hot.

What are the factors which create our identity? Is it the image we create on the outside, through the clothes we wear and the colours we dye our hair? Or is identity something which is in-built and cannot be changed?

After exploring the physical elements of my identity, my clothes, my features, my faults, I realised this picture I was creating didn’t reflect who I really am, or how I see myself.

I wanted to create a more insightful and interesting image of myself.

A true view.

Through knowing a persons likes and dislikes, you can start to develop an understanding of the persons personality and identity.

I have created an A-Z of objects, places and people of which I love, or that make me happy. Some things are daft, some are serious, but overall this project intends to give an honest insight into what makes me tick, what makes me who I am, what creates my identity.
